Due to presence of the high altitude of Tibet Plateau, the air is dry and thin, having strong solar radiation and the temperature is very low. Annual precipitation ranges from 100 to 300 millimeters (3.9 to 11.8 in) and precipitation occurs mainly as hail and there is less rain on the plateau. The dryness of the plateau is due to less amount of rainfall because of high altitude of 16,000 ft.
