The sum of three numbers is 50. If the third number is one-third the second number and the first number exceeds the second number by 8, then find the first number.

Answer:

second number= X

first number = X+8

third number X/3

sum of three numbers is 50.

X+X+8+X/3=50

2x+x/3=50-8

(6x+x) / 3 =42

7x =42*3

X =42*3/7

=18

Second number=18

third number= 18/3=6

first number=18+8=26
