x = 1.5 , y = 0.5

Explanation:

y = - x + 2 → (1)

y = 3x - 4 → (2)

substitute y = 3x - 4 into (1)

3x - 4 = - x + 2 ( add x to both sides )

4x - 4 = 2 ( add 4 to both sides )

4x = 6 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x =
(6)/(4) = 1.5

substitute x = 1.5 into either of the 2 equations and solve for y

substituting into (1)

y = - 1.5 + 2 = 0.5
