Why is it significant that Hitler was technically "elected" into power?

Since he was "technically elected" this means that people cannot go against his word. They cannot overthrow him as this would be a hostile takeover and illegal.

Technically, no. Hitler himself was not elected at all. But the Nazi party achieved some degree of electoral success, leading ultimately to Hitler's appointment as chancellor.
