What is the importance of owning land in the Middle Ages

Under the feudal System land was granted to people for service started at the top with the king granting his land to a barrel for soldiers all the way down to a peasant getting land to grow crops the center of life in the middle ages was the Manor

If you owned land you were most likely a lord (aristrocrat, rich person) and lords had farmland (crops could be sold for more money) ran by pesants or slaves
