= 9-3 = 6 in

The width of the larger rectangle

= 17-1 = 16 in

The area of the larger rectangle

= 6×16

The length of the smaller rectangle

= 8-4 = 4 in

The width of the smaller rectangle

= 13-5 = 8 in

The area of the smaller rectangle

= 4×8

= 32 in²

The area of the picture frame

= 96-32

= 64 in²
