We can just divide the people by area

57714/836109=.06902688525 or about .07 people per square mile

I think you got confused about the division and what to divide by what

Look over here we divide the PEOPLE by the AREA so we get the amount of PEOPLE per square mile

If we did it the opposite way we get THE AREA that EACH PERSON HAS
