Use ratios of corresponding sides to find the value of x.
a)
(2x - 18)/ 24 = 8/ 48
2x - 18 = 24/6
2x - 18 = 4
2x = 22
x = 11
b)
(x + 4)/18 = 25/30
x + 4 = 18*5/6
x + 4 = 15
x = 11
