The population growth is bringing more diversity to the state.

More African Americans are turning up to the polls for voting, whether it be in local, state, or presidental elections.

Government officials go out of their way to increase voter registeration, especially among people of color who tend to vote for Democrats.

With more democratic voters, the state starts to shift; democratic voters start to outnumber the conservatives. So, due to the number of democratic/progressive voters, the state was able to achieve not one, but two democratic Senators.
