Explanation:

Side BC and Side BA are congruent sides ( indicated by the two dashed lines. )

This meaning that their opposite angles are also congruent

Side BC's opposite angle is ∠A and side BA's opposite angle is ∠C

Hence ∠A ≅ ∠C

And because ∠A = 52°, ∠C also equals 52°

Hence y = 52°

Now we want to find x

We can do this by creating an equation using the triangle angle rule which states that the angles in a triangle add up to equal 180

so...

180 = 14x + 6 + 52 + 52

now we solve for x

step 1 combine like terms

52 + 52 + 6 = 110

now we have 180 = 110 + 14x

step 2 subtract 110 from each side

180 - 110 = 70

110 - 110 cancels out

now we have 70 = 14x

step 3 divide each side by 14
