Solution:

Given:

  • Half of diagonal: 10 units

To find the diagonal, multiply half the diagonal by 2.

  • => Diagonal = 2(Half of diagonal)
  • => Diagonal = 2(10) = 20 units

We also know that the sides of the square are equal. Let's use Pythagoras theorem to solve for the side length (c).

  • => 20² = c² + c²
  • => 400 = 2c²
  • => 200 = c²
  • => c = √200 = 10√2

Square the side length to obtain the area of the square.

  • => (10√2)² = Area of square
  • => (10√2) x (10√2) = Area of square
  • => 100 x 2 = Area of square
  • => 200 units² = Area of square

The area of the square is 200 units²

Since half of the diagonal of the square is 10, that means the whole diagonal is 20.

Area of the square =
(1)/(2) *(20)^(2) =200

Thus the area is 200. Hope that helps!
