Help, please! Amanda can paint a room in 2 hours. Monica can paint the room in 3 hours. How long would it take them to paint the room working together? Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a hour.

5/6 or 50 minutes

Explanation:

Ok so first thing you want to do is find the rates of both the girls and add them up:

Amanda can finish 1 room in 2 hours

hence,

1/2 ( rooms/hours)

And we know Monica can paint the same room in 3 hours:

1/3

Now add them together such that the equation is \:

1/2+1/3=1/x . x being the total hours they can finish the room together.

Once you add those you should get 5/6!!!
