If the mean of A and B is 20 , the mean of B and C and the mean of A,B and C us 18 . What is the mwan of A and C

Explanation:

Given that

The mean of A and B is 20

The mean of B and C is 24

And, the mean of A, B and C is 18

We need to find out the mean of A and C

Since the mean of A and B is 20

So, a + b = 20 × 2

= 40

Likewise for B and C it is 48

And, for A, B and C, it is 54

So,

a + b = 40

b + c = 48

a + b + c = 54

So if we put the value of b + c in the above equation

a + 48 = 54

a = 6

b = 34

c = 14

Now the mean of the A and C is

= (6 + 14) ÷ 2

= 10

Hence, the mean of A and C is 10
