to make some apples cider, and bought 4 dozen apples.
How much did he pay?

Explanation:

4 (dozens) ×12 (total number in a dozen) = 48 (total apples)

48÷6= 8. This was divided so there is equal groups of 6.

8 (number of groups of six) x 2.18 (cost of 6 apples)= 17.44

$17.44 was the total cost.
