Calling all realllyyyy smart people lol! I need some help please on my algebra!

There are 6500 people in a certain area. The area is growing at a rate of 3.5%.

Use the formula A=Pertto calculate the time it would take for the area to reach 11500 people. Calculate the solution for t to the nearest tenth using logarithms.

Answer:

  • 16.6

Explanation:

  • Initial number = 6500
  • Growth rate = 3.5% = 0.035 times
  • Final number = 11500
  • Time t = ?

Formula:

  • P(t) = 6500(1 + 0.035)^t

Solve for t:

  • 11500 = 6500*1.035^t
  • 11500/6500 = 1.035^t
  • log 1.7692 = log 1.035^t
  • t = log 1.7692 / log 1.035
  • t = 16.6 (rounded)
