Reasons why aluminum can not be soft soldered

Soldering aluminum is not a common practice. The primary reason is that rapid formation of an oxide layer, and the difficulty in removing that oxide layer, inhibits solder wetting of the aluminum. When soldering copper, removal of the copper oxide is relatively easy with mild organic and inorganic fluxes.
