PLEASE HELP ME!! I NEED HELP FAST!

Question 3 (10 points) (08.03/08.05 MC) A pair of equations is shown below:

y = 7x - 8
y = 5x – 2

Part A: Explain how you will solve the pair of equations by substitution or elimination. Show all the steps and write the solution. (5 points)

Part B: If the two equations are graphed, at what point will the lines representing the two equations intersect? Explain your answer. (5 points)

Answer:

part A) rearrange the equations to form simultaneous equations:

y-7x=8

y-5x=-2

now eliminate the y values by minusing the two equations:

(y-7x=8)-(y-5x=-2)

to get:

-2x=-6

x=3

now substitute x into one of the equations to get y:

y=5x-2

y=15-2

y=13

x = 3 \\ y = 13

part B) the lines will intercept at (3, 13)

Explanation:

hope this helps!
