First I am going to distribute the 4 and the 8 on the sides of the equation.

This gets me to

8x + 8 = 16 - 24x

then subtract 8x on both sides to get

8 = 16 - 16x

then subtract 16 on both sides to isolate the -16x

-8 = -16x

then divide by -16 on both sides, to make the x variable positive and isolate the variable even more.

0.5 = x
