Read the passage.

The young man wanted to be a knight more than anything. But the swords were so heavy that every time he tried to pick one up, he fell over. So, the young man asked an older knight to train him. Although it would cost the older knight great effort and time, he said yes.

The young man worked each day until he was exhausted. Once he even fell asleep in his dinner! But by the end of the year, he could lift and swing a sword. By the next year, the young man fought so well that he saved the older knight’s life. What theme can the reader determine from the events with the older knight?

Always be kindhearted to others.

Never allow yourself to be weak.

Never attempt to become a knight.

Always work until you are exhausted.
