Answer:

As the name implies, legislature's role is to make laws for the territory of its jurisdiction. Whether it's presidential or parliamentary form of government. The basic role of legislature is to legislate. No tax, government expenditure is legal without the sanction of parliament (legislature). Though power of legislature is different in different countries. For example, In Britain the parliament has tremendous powers While in France the legislature is somewhat subordinate to the wish of President. Legislature could be of two types i.e. Unicameral or Bicameral. Unicameral only has one House and Bicameral has two houses. In Unicameral legislature legislating power belongs to only one House and in Bicameral legislature legislating power is divided into two Houses.
