to under stand this think of a rectangle, or square. that's the yard, then

we know the total area of that rectangle or square, some how. :/ they just tell us, then they tell us the length , or one side of our rectangle or square.

we just have to find the other side.

area of yard (rectangle) = Length * Width

area = L * W

81 = 12 * W

use your algebra skills... ( my calculus prof. tells us that we are all bad at it :))

81/12 = W

6.75 = W

the width of the yard is 6.75 meters
