Assuming you mean


16^(x) =
(1)/(64)

note that 16 = 4² and 64 = 4³ , so


(4^(2) )^(x) =
(1)/(4^(3) )


4^(2x) =
4^(-3)

Since the bases on both sides are equal, both 4, then equate exponents

2x = - 3 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = -
(3)/(2) ( = - 1.5 )
