Given:

A figure of a circle with radius 8. The central angle of the blue sector is 60 degrees.

To find:

The area of the blue sector.

Solution:

Area of a sector is:

A=\pi r^2(\theta)/(360^\circ)

Where, r is the radius and
\theta is the central angle of the sector in degrees.

Putting
r=8, \theta=60^\circ, \pi=3.14, we get

A=(3.14)\cdot (8)^2\cdot (60^\circ)/(360^\circ)

A=(3.14) \cdot (64)\cdot (1)/(6)

A=33.49333....

Approximate the value to the nearest tenth.

A\approx 33.5

Therefore, the area of the blue sector is about 33.5 sq. units.
