Your math teacher allows you to choose the most favorable measure of central tendency of your test scores to determine your grade for them. On six tests you earn scores of 89, 81, 85, 82, 89, and 89. What is your grade to the nearest whole number, and which measure of central tendency should you choose

Answer: 89

Explanation:

Since the tests scores are 89, 81, 85, 82, 89, and 89. The measure of central tendency are:

Mean = (89 + 81 + 85 + 82 + 89 + 89) / 5

= 515/6

= 85.83

Median = 89, 81, 85, 82, 89, and 89. We'll rearrange the numbers which will be:

81, 82, 85, 89, 89 and 89

Median = 85+89/2

= 174/2

= 87

Mode = 89 which appears most.

Since the math teacher allows me to choose the most favorable measure of central tendency, I'll choose the mode since it gives a higher score.
