to determine the answer, i would use an example

Assume length = 10

breadth 20

Area = 10 x 20 = 200

If the length is increased by 10%, the new length becomes = 1.1 x 10 = 11

11 x b = 200

b = 200/11 = 18.181818

Percentage reduction = (18.181818 / 20) - 1 = 0.0909 = 9.09%
