For the graph to pass through the point, we have it that the coordinates of the point will work in the equation of the line

Hence, by substituting the x value, we can get the y value and by substituting the y value, we can get the x value

where f(x) is same as y in this case

Thus, we have it that;

3 = -(-1) + b

3 = 1 + b

b = 3-1

b = 2
