The given trinomial needs to be factorised. On the basis of degree of power of polynomial it can also be called a quadratic polynomial . General form is ax² + bx + c .

= x² + 12x + 20

  • By splitting middle term .

= x² + 10x + 2x + 20

  • Taking x and 2 as common.

= x ( x + 10 ) + 2( x + 10 )

  • Talking (x + 10) as Common .

= ( x + 2)( x +10)

Hence the factorised form is (x+2)(x+10).
