A truck requires 35 liters of petrol to travel a distance of

d/v = k

d₁/v₁ = d₂/v₂............. Equation 2

Where d₁ and d₂ are initial and final distance respectively, v₁ and v₂ are initial and final amount of petrol used respectively.

Given: d₁ = 450 km, d₂ = 1050 km, v₁ = 35 liters

Substitute into equation 2 and solve for v₂

450/35 = 1050/v₂

v₂ = (1050×35)/450

v₂ = 36750/450

v₂ = 81.67 Liters.

If a liter of petrol cost $2.95,

Then,

81.67 liters will cost (81.67×$2.95) = $240.92
