Why would it be controversial for a Black man to say a white woman had sexually assaulted him in the 1930's?

Nobody would believe him. Racism is still a constant issue now, but back then it was incredibly constant and pressurized. While women are still viewed as lesser-than in society measures, a white woman is still white. It is still also now controversial for men to claim sexual assault by a woman, and racial profiling would have been an incredibly terrible backlash.
