Explanation:

The area of a triangle is 1/2 base x height

All of the triangles have a base of 6 inches and a height of 10 inches.

so 1/2 6 x 10= 30

There are 4 triangles with an area of 30 square inches

and then the square in the middle has a length of 6 in and a width of 6 in so it has an area of 36 in^2

so in total you would have 30+30+30+30+36, or 156
