11. The ratio of men to women at a track meet is 4:5. If there are 20 men at the meet, use a proportion to determine how many people are at the meet.​

There are 36 people at the meet

Explanation:

if the ratio is 4 men to 5 women it means that every time there are 4 men there will be 5 women so its 4/5

and since we know there are 20 men the equation becomes:

4/5 = x/20

so to make 4/5 have 20 as a denominator we multiply by 4/4.

4/5*4/4 = 16/20

So, now we know there are 16 women.

And 16+20 = 36
