Given:
-4x - 2y = -2
x - 2y = 9
Subtracting
:
-4x - 2y - (x - 2y) = -2 - 9
-4x - 2y - x + 2y = - 11
-5x = -11
5x = 11
x = 11/5
x = 2.2
You can now find y:
2.2 - 2y = 9
2y = 2.2 - 9
2y = - 6.8
y = -6.8/2
y = -3.4
Solution (2.2, -3.4)
