1. it’s a painting of georg giese, doing a little research ik he’s a merchant and has interesting objects near him

2. this painting looks as if it is from the north renaissance because of the smooth texture; the Northern renaissance was known for the broadening of oil paints and the use of them, do they look different from the paintings before the era. the colors are less bright than other eras of time for the reason that it’s darker, showing the gothic aesthetic of the time period and everyone’s low moods

3. while this is just a portrait of a random man, the colors and brooding feel of the illustration makes a message to the viewer. it displays renaissance fashion, quality of art utensils, and the period itself, as we can see that the era affected the art

4. i think even though this painting was meaningless at the time, it demonstrates a lot abt life during the era
