We also know that she wants to buy one CD worth 23 dollars.

So, here is our equation.

65 = 14x + 23

Lets minus 23 from the right, but we also need to minus 23 from the left to balance out the equation.

42 = 14x

Now lets divide 14 from x, then balance the equation by doing that to 42.

3 = x

Now, we have our unknown CD amount!
