One side of a rectangle is parallel to the y-axis. One vertex of the rectangle is located at (6,3) and there is another vertex at (2,7). What are the coordinates of the other 2 vertices?

Answer:

the four vertex are: (6,3) (2,7) (2,3) (6,7)

Explanation:

the vertex that they give us is the two of the opposites corners.

and we have to remember that rectangles have 2 equals sides, and another 2 equals sides.

so, y is the height, and the x is the base. we subtract 7-3 = 4 that is the length for y side. and for x side is 6-2 = 4.

so we have to add and subtract 4 on x coordinate to get the new coordinate of x, and use the same y coordinate.

from (6,3) we will do 6 - 4 = 2. and we find the x coordinate, then we know that is the same y coordinate so will be (2,3)

now, on (2,7) we will do 2 + 4 = 6. and we find the value for x, then we know that is the same coordinate for y too and we get (6,7)
