Answer:

x = 10.3

y = 5.8

Explanation:

To find both x and y, you can use the formula
a^(2) +
b^(2) =
c^(2)

a and b would be the sides that touch the right angle

so to find x, you would do
9^(2) +
5^(2) =
x^(2)

this would be: 81 + 25 =
x^(2)

then add it and you get: 106 =
x^(2)

now do the square root of 106 to get: 10.3 = x

Now plug in your other values to get y:
5^(2) +
3^(2) =
y^(2)

do the same thing here: 25 + 9 =
y^(2)

add your numbers: 34 =
y^(2)

square root 34: 5.8 = y
