Explanation:

diameter of mirror = 12 in.

radius of mirror = diameter/2 = 13 in. / 2 = 6 in.

frame width = 3 in.

radius if combined mirror and frame = 6 in. + 3 in. = 9 in.

A = (pi)(r^2)

A = 3.14159 * (9 in.)^2

A = 3.14159 * 81 in.^2

A = 254.5 in.^2
