voters in the United States went to the polls and an election that ended with Abraham Lincoln as president and an act that led to civil war with Lincoln's Victory did not have it on that date his victory wasn't a short for once Lincoln was a candidate for the newly-created Republican party which officially wanted to limit the exposition of slavery. dont know if this helped but good luck

In 1849, he returned to his law practice but became vexed by the opening of additional lands to slavery as a result of the Kansas–Nebraska Act. He reentered politics in 1854, becoming a leader in the new Republican Party, and he reached a national audience in the 1858 debates against Stephen Douglas.
