8 has to be in the data set because 8 had to be there to be a mode were you can have 5 as the median if the set was like this 234678 because 4&6 both are in the middle so you have to do the middle of that which is 5 so that’s the median without having the number 5.

5 must be in the data set: median means it’s the middle number in the set. so if the data was [2,3,5,6,7], 5 is the median.
