Explanation:

We have to find the surface area of the cylinder

The formula to find this is 2πrh + 2πr²

But we can get rid of the 2πr² since that would be the surface area for the top and bottom of the can; we only want to find the surface area of the paper.

r = 8 (because half of a diameter is the radius, so 16 ÷ 2 = 8)

h = 8

Plug in the given numbers

2(3.14)(8)(8) = 401.92
