Explanation:

simultaneous equations

2x + 4y = 7 ------ eq 1

-2x + 3y = 14 --------eq2

(different signs add)

(eq 2 + eq 1)

-2x +(-2x) = 0

4y+3y = 7y

7+14 = 21

7y= 21

(divide both sides by 7)

y= 21/7= 3

2x + 4(3) = 7

2x+ 12=7

2x = 7-12

2x = -5

x= -5/2
