Can someone explain how to solve

by elimination?

Answer:

when using elimination you "eliminate one variable by adding the equations", so basically in this equation 2y-2y cancel out when you add the equations together. so, you'll find x first. once you find the value of x, then you plug x into one of the equations to find the ordered pair solution, which happens to be (-1,0) in this solution.
