Can the police track SIM cards or messages sent from a SIM card, even after it's been snapped or destroyed?

If you break a SIM card their is no way for the police to track it probably is going to track the last location it’s like a phone if you break the phone is going to track the last time the phone was connected and going to show the last location:)
