find the area of the circle, a 60° segment of the circle, and an equilateral triangle with sides of 5 cm:

area of circle = πr² = (3.14)(5²) = 78.5 cm²

area of 60° segment of circle = 78.5/6 = 13.08 cm²

area of triangle = 1/2(4.33)(5) = 10.82 cm²

The shaded area will be:

full circle area - (60° segment - triangle) = 78.5 - 13.08 + 10.82 = 76.24 cm²
