So the probability that they will survive is 1-0.1 = 0.9

We are going you use the Bernoulli approximation of the Binomial theorem as follows

= nCr * p^n * q^(n-r)

where n = 16

r = 2

P = 0.1

q = 0.9

Substituting these values;

14 C 2 * 0.1^2 * 0.9^12

= 0.257
