Pls help I'm actually confused I've been trying to solve for over an hour.

( there both there own question but the 1st one you also need to solve the second)

Answer:

This is the famous "Ice cream cone" problem. notice that if you turn the object 90° counter clock wise , it looks like an ice cream cone. anyway

Explanation:

the two triangles on the pointy end make a box , if you put them together, so it's a box of 4 x 11 or 44
in^(2).

then the actual box part in the middle it's 3 x 8 or 24
in^(2).

and finaly the ice cream :P or the round part. well half round part.

it's half of a circle..(we don't really know if the arc is really a circle from the problem but I'm guessing that we are supposed to assume that it is ) and the area of a circle is
\pi
r^(2)

then
\pi*
4^(2) = 50.2655 which is the entire circle but we only have half.. so divide by 2 = 25.1327
in^(2).

add the 3 parts

93.1327
in^(2).

that's the total area of the "ice cream cone"

now just multiply by 3.1 to find the cost of the flooring

$ 288.71
