Answer:

Area = 132 sq units

Explanation:

This shape is a trapezoid.

Area of a trapezoid:

A = 1/2 (b + b) • h

We know the height:

h = 8

We know the bottom base:

b = 21

We can find the top base. Part of it is 3, but we have to look back down at the bottom to figure out the other piece.

On the bottom, the left end is 9 and the right end is 3, we need the middle. The whole thing is 21.

21 - (9+3) = 9

So the bottom middle is 9. And above it the missing piece of the top is the same ( also 9, bc it's a rectangle)

Top base is 12.

Now Area of a trapezoid:

A = 1/2 (12+21)•8

A = 1/2(33)(8)

A = 132 sq units
