Area of a trapezoid =
(1)/(2)(a + b) x h

a and b = 2 parallel sides

h = height

120 = 0.5(14 + b) x 6

120 = 3 x (14 +b)

Divide both sides of the equation by 3

120/3 = 14 + b

40 = 14 + b

Collect like terms

b = 40 - 14 = 26inches
