Given:

B is the midpoint of line AC.

AB=6Y-14

BC=10-2Y

To find:

The length of AC.

Solution:

It is given that B is the midpoint of line AC. So,

AB=BC

6Y-14=10-2Y

6Y+2Y=10+14

8Y=24

Divide both sides by 8.

Y=(24)/(8)

Y=3

The value of Y is 3.

Now,

AC=AB+BC

AC=6Y-14+10-2Y

AC=4Y-4

Putting
Y=3, we get

AC=4(3)-4

AC=12-4

AC=8

Therefore, the length of AC is 8 units.
