then we calculate with this two equation to get a and b.

because a+b=11, then a=11-b, we put this into a * b=24

then we get (11-b)*b=24,

b^2-11b+24=0

b=3 feet or b=8 feet

then we can get a by a=11-b, if b=3, then a=8; if b=8, then a=3.

so the dimension of the pool table is 3 feet and 8 feet
